Blue Mountain Artist Welcomes THE ORIGINAL Blueground Undergrass featuring Rev. Jeff Mosier, David Blackmon, Johnny Mosier, Mark Van Allen, Kyle Spark, Vic Stafford Formed
originally in 1998 by Jeff Mosier, Blueground Undergrass has developed
a solid reputation and nationwide following by playing its multi-faceted
music mix coast-to-coast. The band has always been known for exciting
performances and eclectic arrangements. Its sonic wall of twang
type sound pleases the whole spectrum of fans from hippies to cloggers
to rockers, taking Blueground Undergrass to the brink of almost
moshpit energy, yet guiding each show with song-driven clarity along

Blue Mountain Artists Congratulates PINETOP PERKINS 2008 Grammy Winner for Best Traditional Blues Album
LOS ANGELES (Reuters)
- Two bluesmen in their 90s won the
first Grammys of their colorful careers
on Sunday, a reminder that there's more
to the music industry than fresh-faced
youngsters.Pianist Willie "Pinetop" Perkins, 94, and guitarist David "Honeyboy" Edwards, 92, won the traditional blues Grammy for their appropriately titled album "Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas." They recorded the project with Henry James Townsend and Robert Lockwood Jr., who both died in 2006. Townsend, who was 96 when he died, was represented at the ceremony by his 21-year-old son, Alonzo. Perkins, a former sideman with Muddy Waters, was nominated in the traditional blues category with another album, "Pinetop Perkins on the '88's -- Live in Chicago." |

Four 2008 Grammy Nominations Congratulations to: Pinetop Perkins, Tony Trischka and Terrance Simien On December 6 the Grammy Committee announced their 2008 nominees and three clients from the Blue Mountain Artists roster were nominated for a total of four recordings this year. Leading the pack is 94 year old Pinetop Perkins who was nominated for his own CD "Pinetop Perkins on the 88's Live in Chicago" which is the bonus CD on his new video release "Born in the Honey". BMA client Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and his band back up Pine on this performance. Pinetop was also nominated for his contribution to the live CD the "Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen" with fellow legends Robert Jr. Lockwood, Honeyboy Edwards and Henry Townsend. The perfomers were backed by BMA family member Diunna Greenleaf. One other nominee in the Traditional Blues Album Category, Kenny Wayne Shephard, included contributions by BMA clients Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, Bob Margolin and Willie Smith.
The next nominee is Tony Trischka for his breakthrough album "The Double Banjo Bluegrass Spectacular" that is nominated for the Best Bluegrass Album of 2007. Tony is a deeply respected Banjo Master that has finally gained the respect of both the traditional and progressive side of the bluegrass community. The CD features duets with Bela Fleck, Steve Martin, Earl Scruggs and many others gathered to pay their respects to Tony and his talent. Tony Trischka is the best at what he does and now the rest of the world is finally getting out....congrats to Tony.
Terrance Simien has been on the road since he was 18 years old touring the country and bringing the world his unique twist on Zydeco music. Along the Road Terrance has appeared in the movie the "Big Easy" recorded with Paul Simon and toured with Dave Matthews Band. This year is the first year for the category of Best Cajun or Zydeco album and it is only fitting the Terrance's CD "Live from the World" would be nominated.December 6, 2007 was a proud day here at BMA...Congratulations to all of the nominees. |
