artist Big Blue

The Spring of 2006 marks the return of Steve “Big Daddy” McMurry to the road as Big Blue with sometime Acoustic Syndicate collaborator Mars Farris in a full electric, rock you socks off format. Steve “Big Daddy” McMurry is a founding member of Acoustic Syndicate. From 1995 – 2005, this national act recorded, and toured the nation in support of two, full - length projects for Sugar Hill Records. Their efforts have totaled six recordings to their discography. Their body of original material represents a broad slice of Americana…incorporating Roots, Rock, Jazz, Raggae, Blues, Folk and Bluegrass. The “Syndicate” ended it’s tenure together to spend more time with family, and to pursue other interests. They disbanded with nothing but love for one another, and still remain the best of friends.

Steve “Big Daddy” McMurry worked as the front man, and guitarist for Acoustic Syndicate for it’s duration. His songwriting, big voice and fluid guitar style are his defining characteristics. He is often asked to sit in with many great bands and musicians. He has performed live, (on stage) with such legends as Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, Little Feat, Sam Bush, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band,
Larry Keel, Darrell Scott, Gillian Welch, String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, and many more.

His side project, The Big Daddy Bluegrass Band, released a self-titled CD on Little King Records to rave reviews in 2002, and made the national bluegrass charts. This mega-group features Steve McMurry on mandolin, two-time Telluride guitar champion, Larry Keel, his talented wife / bassist, Jenny Keel, founding member of
New Grass Revival, Curtis Burch on dobro, and bluegrass-banjo royalty,
Billy Constable. Their yearly reunions are a highly spirited romp, and are greatly anticipated by the collective fan base.

Big Blue is a new beginning for Steve, the band will be all electric and will incorporate the vast wealth of musical influences that has mad “Big” a musical icon in the south. Call us now for bookings.
